A failing booster pump set can cause major disruption to operations, which is why it is crucial to have a reliable and efficient system in place. We recently had a customer who contacted us about their failing booster pump set, which was causing a headache for their business. In response, we worked diligently to provide them with a solution that would not only restore the water supply but also improve their system’s overall efficiency.
Upon assessing the system, we determined that the booster pump set would require significant modification. Based on its design and format, we decided to disassemble the system and rebuild it with new technology. We opted to reuse the existing manifolds and selected pumps that would best suit the system’s needs, completely rebuilding the booster in its existing location.
We needed to complete the work in one day so we set to work pre-planning and performing as much work as possible before the day of the rebuild.
Due to the size of the pumps, we assigned all of our engineers to the project. We needed to use our cranes to safely lift and move the pumps during the disassembly and rebuilding process. The first step was to remove the failed Grundfos Pumps and replace them with KSB DP vertical multistage pumps. These pumps are known for their high performance and reliability, making them the perfect fit for this particular system. We then integrated Nastec inverters for advanced motor control to ensure that the pumps would function optimally.
To control the pumps, we installed a Pumps UK control panel equipped with state-of-the-art features that ensure safe and reliable operations. One of the features of the Pumps UK control panel is Safety Fill technology, which is designed to slowly refill the building pipework if there is an interruption to the supply and prevent the chance of water hammer from occurring after a power cut. This unique technology is supplied as standard on all of our multiple-pump PUK booster systems such as the PUK VARI COM.
To compliment the new pump system, we also installed a new Imera drawdown vessel. The Imera vessel is designed to regulate water pressure and maintain a consistent supply of water. With these enhancements, we were able to ensure that the system would function efficiently and reliably.
Despite the scope of the project, our team was able to complete all the work within a day. After the new system was up and running, water was restored to the customer’s satisfaction.
At our company, we take pride in our ability to provide effective solutions to any problem that our customers may face. In this instance, our expertise and commitment to quality allowed us to revive a failing system and upgrade it with new technology. The result was a system that was not only reliable and efficient but also safe and innovative.
